Hoodies & Heels 2nite @ Double Dutch

Vin Sol and Gary of Versus Magazine are at it again:

$1 Olympias and $2 Stellas! $2 Stellas! $2 Stellas! Did I mention the Stellas are only $2?

Then we're off to Seattle for four days, for vacation this time. Looking forward to repeating some of the adventures from my last visits (which were for work) and enjoying some new ones.

DJ blesOne getting down at the Puma store in Bellevue.

Mr. Supreme and Fourcolorzack killin' it.

Happened to catch the homie Rapid Ric at the War Room. Good timing.

Big ups to my man Eddie.

Been nagging the hell out of Erik at Milk to get this guy to SF. It'll work eventually.

Here are some pics from the Versus Magazine party at Space Gallery last Thursday:

Literally hot off the press.

Versus Magazine SF Release Party 8/31

Come and hang with the kids who make Versus Magazine happen and be the first on your block to own Issue #005. This issue features an interview with Matt Sonzala of HoustonSoReal by yours truly. I'll be starting the Labor Day Weekend earrrrrrrrly.

I was cordially invited to popscene's 10th Anniversary at 330 Ritch last Friday. Surprise band was The Killers, and the VIP pre-party was lovely. Unfortunately both my friend and I got sick the next day. (Bad beer? Not sure.) But otherwise the night was amazing--it was like a private show. Unforgettable. (Oh, I wasn't allowed to take pictures.)

I'm being held captive

Where's Stef? Why no new blog posts? Why hasn't VinylExchange.com been updated since April? When's the new VETV episode coming out?

My job has taken over my life. I hope to return soon.

Yo-Yo Kids at the Hemlock

Tonight, June 22, at the Hemlock Tavern. Read the flyer. The "Electro Yo-Yo Rodeo Throwdown" part is not a joke. Come hang with Gurp City, enjoy some cold beverages, and see some serious yo-yo'ing.

It's The Rub

DJs Cosmo Baker and Ayres were last here almost exactly a month ago on their San Francisco stop of the Sunglasses is a Must tour. Tonight they're at Milk complete with DJ Eleven for the special monthly edition of SuperFriends with DJ Vin Sol.

Check out tour pictures here. I noticed that I have the same shirt as Paul Shaffer.

You'll see some of my pics from the SF show. Here are a few more, a month late:

DJ Swayzee: "Don't talk about it, blog about it."

Harmonicas is a must. I failed to record "Late Night Donuts is a Must" featuring Ralph.

And the obligatory Rub SXSW beatdown screenshot. "You don't want none"... itstherub.com

Sunglasses is a Must 5/19

I will be dancing to The Rub DJs tonight at boca. It's A-Trak's "Sunglasses Is a Must" tour. I wish I'd needed sunglasses today, this weather sucks. I love it when Ayres and Cosmo are in town. Hopefully no fisticuffs will be necessary.

Tomorrow (Sat. 5/20) we're going to check out the free 7:00 screening (another one at 10) of the Rhymesayers documentary "Exposing Headshots." It's at the Preview Room at 582 Market St. at 2nd right here in San Francisco. The background info on this project is at OverGreenland.com. Then that night, Eddie K is at Thomas's Anothaprofunkshun party at 111 Minna. Over at Milk, they're having the SuperFriends CD release party. Prefuse 73 and Edan cancelled their show at Mezzanine, but there's still lots going on.

RasCue and DJ Madison have their annual Bay-to-Breakers party on Sunday at Clayton and Fell Streets. Then the party moves to Milk from 11 am to 8 pm.

Time Machine & PUTS back in SF

DJ Mekalek of Time Machine

Time Machine is touring with PUTS again, and are at The Independent Wednesday night, April 26th. PUTS have a new album to promote, Stepfather, which is really good but at the moment I'm most excited about the "Tuxedo Rap" 12-inch. It's fresh, modern rap delivered in classic disco style. Love the cover, too. I'm hoping the remix comes out on wax soon. Mekalek has a new 12-inch out as well, with Percee P on the P-side, "The Gritty Bop," and Fedd Hill on the F-side, "Love Life Money Guns."

Check out the PUTS See & Hear device at puts-stepfather.com. Fun little album promo.

VETV

I've been working on this internet TV show thing and the premiere episode will be launching soon. It's VETV, or Vinyl Exchange TV, and it's about hip-hop vinyl and the people who make it, sell it, and love it. This show will be on the web and downloadable to iPod and PSP. (Shit, I don't even have an iPod or PSP.)

You can find out more about VETV and check out the trailer at VETV.us. You can also find us on Myspace at Myspace.com/vetv.

(Big ups to Thug E. Fresh for the fat-ass bumper shown above.)

Spinnin' @ At Large 4/20

This is a new monthly presented by Versus Magazine and KULT Radio, every 3rd Thursday at Madrone Lounge. I'll be playing along with DJs Swayzee and Cabal, and Megabusive is coming through to rap. Should be pretty damn raptastic. The VE Radio show airs twice a week on KULT and the current issue of Versus Magazine features my interview with Megabusive, so it's all in the fam.

I just finished an Ableton Live class. This program is SO dope. I highly recommend Ableton for producing beats and/or performing live. It's so user-friendly yet offers total control of your sound. I've found the answer to my beat-making needs.
