Spindig, Face Down A$$ Up, SXSW
Spindig Happy Hour is tomorow at Butter. I'm loving the venue, it's a blast.

I'm pulling out the Miami bass for Saturday. The bass is gonna hit you hard in the earholes all night.

SXSW was ridiculous. I don't think I could have had a better time. I hung tough with the Canadians this year. Big ups to Matt Sonzala.

Fishbone is red hot!

Fishbone at the Independent! I think this will probably be my 15th time seeing them, but the first 14 were all in the '80s and very early '90s. "Play it, boy wonder!"

The Cool Kids are back in San Francisco this Thursday, January 17 at The Independent. Mr. Roboto presents The Cool Kids with Freebass 808, HOTTUB and DJ Vin Sol. Here are a couple of clips from their Cafe Du Nord appearance last June, shot by Serg. (You can hear him yelling near the end of the 2nd one.):
And on the same night, their DJ, Patrick Jake, will be at Night Class, the Thursday night weekly at Madrone Lounge with residents Shane King and Swayzee.
The Night Class crew is bringing out the one and only Rapid Ric from Austin, Texas, on Thursday, February 7th for the second Hard As Fuck party, presented by Beer and Rap. (Click to see flyer.) Special guest DJ Matthew Africa is working on the Hard As Fuck 4 mix as you read this. "It's goin' dine."

Happy New Year! Spindig 1/11/08
See you at the first Spindig Happy Hour party of the year. Just announced! Special guest DJ is local rap star Conceit!

Happy New Year! What did everyone do on New Year's Eve? We wanted to have dinner at Weird Fish or Regalito, but both were closed. Yum Yum was cool, cheap and not busy, and just up the street a bit at Casanova Lounge was the Booty Bassment NYE party.

DJ Ryan Poulsen of Booty Bassment
Then we headed to the Hotel Utah for the Pish Posh New Years Eve party. Lineup included Futuristic Prince, Lazer Sword/Swizzle, Ghosts on Tape and Buddy Leroy/Lizzle. The evening was fun, cheap and low key. Muni was free but going home there was NO bus so we walked the two miles home.

We missed Buddy's performance.

Hotel Utah's party room is kinda like someone's basement.

Double Up 11/29::Ladies Free
Come to 222 Club at 222 Hyde at Turk in the TL this Thursday night. It's all chicks spinning for your dancing pleasure. Girls get in free, boys have to pay $5.

Caught the Busdriver/Daedelus/Antimc show at the Great American Music Hall last Saturday night. His RoadKillOvercoat album, produced by Nobody and Boom Bip, is outstanding. It's weird (even for him) yet more accessible, which makes no sense until you hear it for yourself.

Great show. Dope cover art by Seripop.
Glue and Hangar 18 are still on tour. Fun shit.

Rap Shows!!
Devin the Dude and the Coughee Brothaz are in town this week, on tour with Del tha Funky Homosapien and the homie BukueOne. Two shows at Slim's, tonight and tomorrow night.

Thursday night at 111 Minna, it's simply and appropriately called Rap Show. Check VinylExchange.com soon for some Junk Science and Iller Than Theirs giveaways.

Big ups to Pretty Titty of Seattle for coming down last week for Drip Drop, one of my fave monthlies. If you're paying attention you'll look for Krames's "Sound of the Police" remix.

Wax Wednesdays
Wax Wednesdays goes down every Wednesday (duh!) at Milk:

Oh and don't you know the Wax logo (a tribute to the First Priority Music label) is Milk Dee approved? "Thanks for the love, you flipped it real hot."
A lot has happened since the Can Goods party--Serg's birthday dinner at Popol Vuh, Bomarr CD release party, Thread Show, Catchdubs at SuperFriends, Charlie's Pharmacy cocktail taste test... my boyfriend Serg's blog is the best source for the latest.
